About Us

The mission of JACC is to work with the community to become more knowledgeable about gun violence and its impact on not only the community but also the families affected. JACC will host or attend monthly meetings on gun violence, provide counseling and support services for those families affected and partner with community organizations, and civic associations to help combat gun violence.

ABOUT US

On February 21, 2017, my son, Jameil Congo was 23 years old when he was senselessly gunned down for sitting on someone’s step. This, along with other killings that happens in the community leaves behind broken families and communities.

Because of this epidemic, in 2018, I have started a foundation in Jameil’s name. This foundation will provide counseling services and support to families who have lost a loved one to gun violence.

support group is a gathering of people who are going through a rough time due to medical reasons, mental illness, or other personal struggles such as gun violence. Support groups focus on how they can help each other and how to live each day feeling better than yesterday.

Being in a support group provides a chance for different people to share their personal stories and struggles. This is also the space where they learn how to cope with the burden they are carrying and how they can proceed with living life.

The mission and the goal work in tandem of the foundation to bring awareness and support to those affected by gun violence by providing a safe space to share their feelings and work through their grief without being judged.

We will not only provide counseling services but to aid needed in everyday life such as rent/utilities, provide preventive measures to keep individuals from turning to guns to solve problems.

JACC will accomplish this by providing the necessary resources needed to assist with choosing other alternatives to gun violence. The foundation holds support group meetings  monthly.

JACC is partnered with Stop the Violence Prayer Chain (STVPC), Moms Demand Action, and Center for Structural Equality to provide the necessary resources to families in need. Our foundation continuously seeks to grow our partnerships with various community resources.

We believe all people can embrace who they are,
can define their future, and can change the world.
